Il n’y a pas seulement la fibre entrepreneuriale qui est innée chez Bertrand Nepveu, fondateur de VrVana. Amateur aguerri de jeux vidéo depuis son jeune âge, Bertrand a consacré une grande partie de sa vie au prototypage de produits et à l’innovation technologique. En 2017, le casque de réalité mixte Totem, pensé et produit par Vrvana, a été sacré “Best in Show” au CES en 2017, et a continué son aventure en Californie avec Apple.
Dans cette conversation inédite avec ce technopreneur d’exception, on discutera du parcours de Totem et du processus de développement d’une nouvelle technologie ; passant de l’idéation, à la mise en place d’une équipe, au développement du produit, pour finalement en arriver à la commercialisation de la propriété intellectuelle. Dès son plus jeune âge, il savait qu'il voulait être un entrepreneur comme son grand-père et changer le monde. Joueur invétéré depuis Donkey Kong sur ColecoVision, il est devenu obsédé par la réalité virtuelle en essayant le Power Glove sur la Nintendo Entertainment System. En tant que pionnier et amateur de gadgets, il a fondé Vrvana en 2005 afin de réaliser son rêve d'améliorer l'expérience de jeu en faisant entrer l'utilisateur dans le jeu. Geek dans l'âme, il a rassemblé les meilleurs et les plus brillants de Montréal pour créer un casque de réalité mixte redéfinissant les standards, gagnant le prestigieux prix de Tom’s Hardware « Best in Show » au CES 2017. En septembre 2017, Vrvana décida de continuer l’aventure aux côtés d’Apple et Bertrand a déménagé en Californie et a travaillé pour Apple pendant plus de trois ans. | Bertrand Nepveu - Tech entrepreneur, Angel investor, Founder Vrvana Bertrand has spent his entire career working in the field of computer science and microelectronics. From a very young age, he knew that he wanted to be an entrepreneur like his grandfather and change the world. Hardcore gamer since Donkey Kong on the ColecoVision, he became obsessed with virtual reality when he tried the Power Glove on the Nintendo Entertainment System. As an early adopter and gadget lover, he founded Vrvana in 2005 in order to fulfill his dream of improving the gaming experience by bringing the user inside the game. Geek at heart, he gathered the best and brightest in Montreal to create the ultimate mixed-reality headset, which won “Tom’s Hardware” Best in Show at CES 2017. In September 2017, Vrvana decided to continue the adventure alongside Apple and Bertrand moved in California and worked for Apple for more than three years. Bertrand holds a Computer Engineering degree from the Université de Sherbrooke and an MBA from HEC Montréal. |
